Thank-you for joining the Brilliant Colors of Fall Home Tour arranged by the sweetest Mansa of This is Simplicite! Hopefully you’ve just enjoyed a stroll through 31girlathome Andrea’s beautiful fall home tour.
Welcome to our home! We live in a coastal town nestled along the ocean a few miles from the city of Boston. New England was meant for the Fall. She’s a total show off. The old white historic buildings are brought to life by the sunset colored trees framing their quaint stories. The abundant summer hydrangeas blush their way into pink then crimson. A simple drive to pick up groceries can become the highlight of my week driving through crispy fall tunnels. Weekend apple picking on farms, cider donuts, and pumpkin spice lattes. Ummmm, yes!!! Fall you got me.
When I decorate my home for the seasons I tend to be a minimalist, and lean towards organic natural elements. For the fall season my house will rotate with colorful leafy branches, bowls of apples, and piles of ombre Cinderella pumpkins. My California blood has yet to adjust to the cold. I get laughed at when I pull out the puff coat a little too early in the season. Likewise, my house will be cozied up with blankets EVERYWEHRE and a touch of my winter furs will make an early appearance. You might even find a fire going here on a 69 degree day.
The Porch
We recently painted our old pea-green Victorian a deep midnight blue. Excuse the mid-progress shots, as we’ve yet to put back up the shutters. But am so happy with how fresh the new porch looks after the paint job. A pile up of pumpkins paired with some lanterns add some fall whimsy to the front. A few blankets on our outdoor seating helps turn this porch into a place I can enjoy watching Main Street go by in the chillier months.
Living & Dining Room
Blankets, lots of blankets. Sometimes I think I’ve gone overboard, but we all need one right?! A fur is draped along the back of the couch adding some extra cozy texture. Fall hydrangeas were abundant in my neighbor friend’s yard, and she graciously let me fill my house with them. Lastly, I like to switch up decorative vessels to warm wood bowls, gray concrete planters, and brassy golds.
Kitchen
A big bowl of apples and extra pillows in the breakfast nook are all this spot needs to set the cozy mood. My minimalist decorating is definitely apparent in the rest of the kitchen, but I absolutely love the drama of oversized branches where you might not expect them. I’ll rotate these as they turn a million shades over the next couple of months.
