A cold unused room in our home needed some love for the winter, enter our furnishing Fairy Grandmother, Safavieh, to the rescue.

New England in winter is charming.   Light snowfall + twinkly lights all lie ahead of us with the holiday season approaching.  But once the festivities fade we are in for a long cold stretch of winter/early spring inside.  With a Covid winter looming I knew one room in our house needed a major refresh.  

Our Living Room was a pretty little showcase of white couches, modern gold tables, and coastal styling.  We loved the look of this room, be still my heart, the room was featured in a national magazine this year!  What you say, is the issue?  Being real with what we need!!  The room needed to be majorly cozied up in order for us to choose this space to hang in.  In the original part of our 130-year old home, it’s a cold space that demanded touches of warmth in every way.

My winter refresh is all about layering in the textures, a softer neutral palette, and we’ve totally Hyggee’d up this space.

Enter:  a new gas fireplace + an amazing brand partner, Safavieh, who showered this room with beautiful pieces that totally capture my mood.   

Grays, whites, and natural tones layer the space, which starts with the hand-loomed Casablanca Rug that creates the soft, sink-into-it feel that was so important to us.

All rooms need a touch of black, and this style bomb of a floor lamp adds a nice contrast to all the soft colors.  

Yummy shades of gray in the Nonie Side Table & Melina Table Lamp continue to add the wintery mood, but as always with Safavieh’s unique chic twist on classic.  

Last, but for me, definitely not least, is the addition of blankets. For winter I prefer to have them strewn about, even when in “clean mode”. They add such a cozy vibe that begs you to come snuggle into the couch now. I’ve chosen a Feather Fur for a nice heavy weight + a lighter Pom Pom Knit blanket.

Ok, a fun spin on the rug.  Do you play musical furnishings in your house?  To my husband’s chagrin, I love moving pieces from room to room.  What’s more fun than shopping your own house?   Having fun with the mix of new elements, we’ve tried the rug in the Dining Room as a twist on the design.  As one large open connected space, the rooms both carry through a similar vibe.
