About the Design: Just Add Water Views
Maybe it’s the understated elegance of the edge piping detail on the bed’s slanted wing headboard, the vacay-inspired muslin and abaca rope bench, or the ocean blue wallpaper treatment, but this refuge bedroom design has us dreaming of an adults-only, ocean-front get-a-way.
This space truly speaks to Palm & Prep’s unequivocal east coast/west coast style, achieved through light and airy pieces, beached wood finishes, and one heck of a style bomb chandelier. If not for the dirty clothes in the hamper and nonexistent turndown service, you’d surely mistake your bedroom for a five-star hotel retreat. Jenny included the following pieces from these trusted, trade-only brands:
Essentials for Living
- Stewart Cal King Bed by Essentials for Living
- Faye Slipcovered Swivel Club Chair
- Adeline Large Round Chandelier-Gold Leaf
- Adelyn Rug
- Banded Sheepskin Pillow, Cream
- Faded Blue Haze Pillow Set
- Suffolk Side Table
- Fremont Table Lamp
- Garbo Con Side Table by World’s Away
- Olisa Muslin Bench by Currey & Co
- Blurred Lines Wallpaper in Cool Blue by Arhaus
- Bedding by Sferra
- Blurred Lines Wallpaper: “Gah! The wallpaper! It looks more like a custom paint treatment, as if an artist claimed the entire wall as her canvas.”
This is imagined as a focal wall that I’d pair it with warm white walls (White Dov or Simply White). If you’d prefer to pair with a blue for continuity, I’d recommend Ice Cube Silver or Seattle Gray, for a more airy look. If you’d like the punch without empty pockets, using Van Courtland Blue (like the I did in our old guest bedroom) instead would look great here too!
- Adeline Chandelier: “This light is both boho and glamorous. She’s a gorgeous one.”
- Olisa Bench: “I’ve honestly coveted this bench for-ev-er. It’s the perfect, end-of-bed punctuation mark; chic and beachy, with that organic rope wrapping.”
About Palm & Prep
Palm & Prep is a boutique residential interior design firm serving Boston’s South Shore and beyond. The brand is defined by Owner and Designer Jennifer Minns’ design essence, best captured in the company name: Palm is an homage to Minns’ laid-back California lifestyle and Prep honors her traditional new England roots. As creators of So-Cal-cool and New England-timeless interiors, Jenny of Palm & Prep “blends a subtle coastal sense in all my airy and bright designs, grounded with some tradition.”
Here at Palm & Prep, we’re pretty obsessed with SideDoor: a fairly new-to-the-scene company making big interior design industry waves. SideDoor is a streamlined, one-stop-shop for top trade-only brands that also does the unglamorous heavy lifting. The best part is that the entire Dramatic Seaside Bedroom collection is easily shoppable across multiple vendors with one click!
